Derek Newell, MBA, MPH

Derek’s primary areas of expertise include business strategy, innovation, market evaluation, sales & marketing, business development and financing strategy. His in depth understanding of the healthcare market, combined with his ability to understand how to create customer value through the use of new and emergent technologies has demonstrated itself through his ability to grow companies quickly.

Prior to HT3, Derek was the President and CEO of Robert Bosch Healthcare. While at Bosch, Derek worked with the management team to develop Bosch’s global telemedicine strategy and built Bosch into one of the world’s leading remote patient monitoring companies. 

Prior to joining Bosch, he was the CEO of Health Hero Networks, a US based remote patient monitoring company, which he sold to Bosch in 2007. Derek has also held senior executive positions in marketing, sales, business development, client relationships, outcomes research, and product management. During his tenure as Chief Marketing Officer at one of the nation’s leading disease management companies, he helped grow the company from under $30 million to over $150 million in revenue.

Among his many awards, Derek includes the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Award for Europe Product

Quality Leadership in Remote Patient Monitoring and the 2009 Market Strategy Leadership

Award in Remote Patient Monitoring. He is a frequent speaker at events about the emergence of new technologies in healthcare. 

Derek has a Masters of Business Administration, with an emphasis in Healthcare Finance and a Masters of

 Public Health in Health Policy and Administration, both from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the business school honor society. He has an undergraduate degree in Molecular & Cell Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology, also from the University of California, Berkeley.
