Much like the conversations and sessions that I sat in on at HealthCamp SF Bay and the Health 2.0 conference, this blog post will be all “over the map”. By clicking on this link, you’ll be brought to a video from the Watson site that explains, at a high level, how Watson works. And since WellPoint is likely very interested in successfully implementing Watson from a competitive standpoint, it’s important to understand a little bit about how health plans typically use these types of tools today. (Aetna purchased ActiveHealth in 2005 after being their customer since 2002.)
Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10:48PM Last night’s announcement of an agreement between WellPoint and IBM to use the Watson computing system for clinical analysis is an amazing opportunity for improving health outcomes. But it’s an opportunity that comes with a lot of “baggage”.
Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 9:54PM The Health 2.0 Show has been hosting a series of monthly webinars featuring new technologies and interviews with industry leaders. I love that they are doing this. This past week, I attended their webinar entitled “Data Drives Decision: The New World of Analytics, Data Mining and How Big Data will Transform Health Care.” For me, the most interesting takeaway came from Tod Fetherling’s presentation on the work his company, Stratasan, is doing.
